Top of Mind

Here's the shorthand for what you will find on this blog, by label:
  • Academically Speaking contains posts about education (generally) or politics, economics and philosophy (more particularly). It is also the catch-all for heady topics that I presume may be a tad esoteric for most people.

  • Most Ramblings are posts about nothing much in particular, most of the time of a personal nature. I do exert some effort to keep these from becoming missives of the "Dear Diary" variety.

  • Odds and Ends used to be the label for things I'd find on the internet that I wanted to share with others; while mostly still the case, I tend to do this more through my Twitter Brain Drip.

  • I have an affinity for Books, Comics, Technology, and Video Games, so I write about these frequently, usually in the context of Reviews.

  • Because I prepared and delivered plenty of Presentations during my stint as a teacher and now at work, I tend to think a lot about presentation design and delivery; hence, I occasionally write about this as well.

  • As the name implies Show and Tell has become the label for my photoblogging, though there won't be any photos of a personal nature featured, if I can help it.

  • I think we all endure The Daily Grind while at work in some shape or form, which is why it seemed appropriate to write my thoughts on this, too.

  • Finally, filed under Up and Away are missives from life on the road; at least, whenever I get to travel.

Aside from these, there are also a few posts that comprise one or another ongoing series:

  • Random Travel Notes are just that. I usually pair these with the bullet reviews of movies I missed in theaters but caught on a plane that I've dubbed In-Flight Entertainment.

  • Dissertating are occasional updates on how my PhD dissertation is going. As you'll find, a lot of the time it isn't going very well.

  • Presentation Thursdays is an excuse for me to publish presentations from my archives with accompanying commentary. Why only on Thursdays, you ask? Well...why not?

  • The Internet is Down: I thought it would be interesting to feature how websites communicate unexpected downtime to their visitors, hoping it would become an internet meme with people sending in screenshots. It hasn't. They don't. But a guy can hope.
